What is the pelvic floor and its functionality?

Everyone is saying how important the pelvic floor muscles are. But do you actually know what the pelvic floor is, what it does, how it works, and why it is so important?

To put it simply, the pelvic floor is a “sling” of muscles, like a hammock, that runs between the pubic bone at the front and the tailbone at the back.

In order for muscles to function properly, they need to be strong, but also able to relax and be flexible. Too much tension can lead to as many problems as too little tensions! The pelvic floor muscles do not act alone. They work closely with the abdominal muscles, the muscles of the lower back, and the diaphragm. These muscles work as a team and need to be in balance, in order for all of them to function properly. For example a weak pelvic floor can put more pressure on the other areas, resulting in other problems such as back pain.

The pelvic floor needs to adapt and react quickly, as well as maintain a good level of activation to maintain continence and assist stability. Your brain is constantly instructing the pelvic floor to react appropriately, even when you are not consciously thinking about it. If the connection between your brain and pelvic floor is lost, then you can no longer use well what is there. This then leads to weakening and dysfunction of the pelvic floor muscles.

What can happen if the pelvic floor is weak?

Am I suitable for PelviPower training?

Pelvipower is suitable for most people over the age of 18, regardless of fitness level. It strengthens the pelvic floor gently and effectively. If you are under 18 years of age, please contact us in advance of booking. Please refer to our list of Absolute Contraindications.

Do I have to undress or wear special clothing?

No, during PelviPower training your clothes stay on and no probes or other aids are required. You sit comfortably in your training chair while the technology works for you. The pelvic floor is rhythmically tensed and relaxed by targeted magnetic impulses – without any additional effort.

How will I feel during the training session? 

You will feel a gentle tingling deep inside. Your training begins precisely where traditional exercises often fail.

Will I need time to recover after the training session? 

No. 22 minutes later, you’re done and can return to everyday life without breaking a sweat.

What advantages does pelvic floor training with PelviPower offer me compared to traditional training?
